To sin or not to sin…
You only truly know what loneliness is after you spent a considerable amount of time in the hostel all by yourself. It is quiet in corridors; even in the kitchen, there is no one around. The ones who stayed for the New Year break, sit in their rooms all day long. In these moments, some mischievous thoughts come to mind, because no one wants to greet the New Year alone, especially when you are far away from home.
So, what should you do? Obviously, the right thing to do is to not do anything at all, because a moment of happiness is not worth its possible repercussions. But…
One snowy day, I really wanted to celebrate the New Year together with my friends. However, this was not possible because my friends were not from the hostel (of course, you know that there are rules forbidding any outsider visits).
Just like in the Sherlock Holmes films, I imagined everything from making an extremely detailed plan to all its possible outcome while executing it with the maximum coolness. Unfortunately, as you would have guessed, nothing went as planned. Everything that could go wrong, did. As a result, it turned out to be comedic, full of chasing, hiding, laughter and of course a completely ruined plan.
Firstly, my genius plan involved in getting a card to enter into the hostel (your friends can help you). For this to work, you need to set a good time (it’s better if there is no one on duty or any guardian around). It is also necessary to protect your identity by using a scarf. Now that the hard part is done, you still need to get your friend into your room. Here, it gets a little tricky, because your friend can’t stay overnight but it is possible to stay here for several hours. Soon another problem arises — it is dangerous to even leave the room to use the toilet, so you must do it very quickly and cautiously to avoid getting caught. You also can’t make too much noise because the person on duty might hear you and ruin your festive spirits.
You go through all this trouble for your guest who can’t do anything but just sit and wait in the room, while you cook up something for them in the kitchen. I think it is much better to just hang out with your friends in a café or walk somewhere outside. After all, winter is a time of miracles!
The moral of this story is blatant; don’t deceive anyone for some short-lasting joy and face the ramifications for it. Though the consequences aren’t serious, I lost all the will to do it again and I might be better off for it.
