The not-so-Dead Poets Society
So many interesting and creative students are studying here, in our university, but they only know a few people. We are extending this narrow circle of friends and unite people who love literature.
The literature club “Проба пера” — is the free unit of students, who want to make their days bright with literature.
— We usually meet with each other and talk about our favorite works of our beloved authors and even our own works. We share our opinions and expressions on the art behind the literature. Our meetings are in a cozy atmosphere at Department of Russian language and culture of speech.
Our events, which we organized in one of the auditorium, were aimed to create positive views about literature — on novel, poetry, etc. Moreover, we developed our writing skills by being supportive and giving each other constructive criticism. In our group we have “The club of authors”, where anyone can write articles, novels, poetry, scripts, humoresque.
At our meeting on 30th of October, we wanted to evaluate the potential of our club as to see how we can hold an event which can understand the mind of our participants and add some diversity in our ordinary meetings. At the meetings, we share about our poetry and read the works of famous modern Russian poets (Ach Astachova (Ах Астахова), Oxana Melnikova (Оксану Мельникова), Vladimir Listomirov (Владимир Листомиров) and so on). We discuss modern poetry in order to prove to us and our guests, that poetry didn’t die on the middle of century, that it is still thriving.
Club upgrade
With all our efforts, we invited new people as permanent members of the club, because it was obvious that many students in our medical university like literature. Then we decided to expand the area for our works and upgraded our page in Vkontakte.
We continue to involve new participants; we are trying to be more vocal about our club, because not many students know of us. We are like a secret organization — we exist but only a few know about our existence. Those who know about us, they prefer to keep quiet and don’t talk about us. This was before but now, our works and we are open to everyone.
Once in a week, we come to the Department and discuss the previously chosen topic: the poesy of the chosen author, exact time period, or one of our own works. We read, share of our thoughts, criticize and make useful conclusions. Our meetings are every Tuesday at 5pm.
We are eagerly waiting for you to join us!
