“No” to laziness. “Yes” to motivation

Do you know how to say no to laziness? I started saying no to useless goals and it gave me success and brought out the best version of me. When a goal is desirable, what can stop me from trying to reach it?

When you have an answer for such questions, “why? what for?”, time and energy appears. The magic (and realistic!) ability to say ‘no’ appears. You can say ‘no’ to strange and unnecessary people and goals. Well, when you reject meaningless goals or goals of other people, start focussing on your own self and love, things begin to happen. When you reject unnecessary things for self, you liberate time and energy for endless meaningful possibilities. And the definition “laziness” is sly, speculative and helpless. In reality laziness is not something incomprehensible. You are not lazy to spend a whole day watching a series, but you are lazy to write a book/diploma/abstract. “I am lazy, that’s why I write nothing”, “I am a good person and I know what I want from life, just I am lazy” are negative phrases commonly heard.

We need to be energetic in order to take responsibility for life, and realizing our goals. Laziness is charming but it is a doubtful asylum from a symphony of reasons such as “why?”. So you need to prove that your goals and values are worth it — and first off, they are worth to you.

But I understand lazy people. In this way it is easy to live and feel comfortable. I’ve lived so, I know it. The sense of life and values are difficult to find and very few people teaches you that. An active person with own sense of life and goals may force you to be in sync with him and he can bring discomfort to others. And it is not so pleasing to feel when it touches you, right? But people who respect self say: “Well done, he can! I can too!”

Now, I’m not asking you to stand up from your comfort zone yet, spending your energy randomly. First answer the question: “why do I rest and don’t strive to realize my goals now?”

Maybe these goals aren’t yours. Maybe you don’t know what your goals are. Maybe you didn’t meet self and didn’t ask about it at all. Ask yourself: “Friend, what do you want from life?” And if you hear an answer “nothing”, ask again. Probably, your “I” was in shock, because someone wants to hear him. And I am sure, he craves for it. So, when you hear self you will understand that there is no laziness. And you will feel energized! Thus, there is no such thing as laziness.

There is a lack of motivation. And, as life shows, every one of us know how to motivate self, though some don’t recognize this skill yet. Remember, the deal that you did with pleasure, zeal and motivation. What is the difference between an action that has a strong drive behind it and something done without a clear motive?

Our daily practice shows that there are common points. Points may differ though, Now I’d like to share to you the fundamentals of the driving force which motivates us:

1. Dealing with personal goal. We want to reach it, not someone else; we need it, others may not. The approach to a deal with words “I want”, but not “I must” or “I need”. Remember, that “need/must” is stronger than “want”.

2. Be ready to face difficulties. Not everything you can reach with a first attempt, and it is normal to fail. Just sometimes we are ready to accept it, and sometimes we aren’t. So be ready to make a return attempt, if you want to be successful. And when difficulties appear, say: “Hi! I will overcome you”, not “O, god! Don’t come to me”.

3. Concentrate on success. “I have tried and had done well — yay, it’s a success!” or “I have tried and it didn’t turn out well — it’s okay, it’s a new experience!”. Even if this point seems to be insincere and stupid, personally I can say that I’ve made it through them. I am not successful always, most times conditions are not ideal but I still try and learn something new from the experience! Failure is just another step towards success. Be optimistic. Be fearless.

4. Enjoy the process. Find something that really interest you, just that you really like. When you will memorize a subject, come to it with creativity, humor, enjoy the process as only you can enjoy. Learn to enjoy and have fun going through the process.

5. Be in the moment. Be here and now. Cast aside phone, mute notifications. Enjoyment of process helps you to be present in the moment, and being in the moment will bring enjoyment in anything you are doing. It increases the effectiveness, it allows you to spend time with a shining smile and pleasure dealing with the task.

I wish you success in your affairs! And most importantly happiness in life, that is not always dependent on ideal results.
