Burnout is often associated with the fact that people stop valuing and caring for their work, because everyone barely notices it, including themselves. Self-supporting mechanism is a skill which should be taught to everyone. Only with it can you be able to notice your value, importance and success in order to burn brightly without a chance of being burnout.

Nowadays, people are obsessed with the idea of self-development. Folks, I’m hung up about it too. It’s really important to use rational thinking when approaching any selfdevelopment techniques. I kindly ask you to pay attention to when and where self-criticism is effective. If you don’t, you won’t be able to avoid a premature demise as the result of excessive self-criticism,

So, if we really want to develop and save ourselves, we need to:

  1. Define how to widen your circle of competence. Here, criticism helps and can be useful. Healthy criticism implies the explanation of where you should come from, to where you should go. What would you like to improve or what habit can you replace with another? For example, we can go from scrolling social feeds to reading paper books.
  2. 2. Understand why we need to improve. Here, criticism can also be handy. Just ask yourself about your future, realize the finiteness of existence and your responsibility for your own happiness. For example: “What will be your biggest regret before you die? Only you can make your dreams come true!”
  3. Recognize what approaches and tools you can use to achieve your goal. In this case, criticism will be like a clump of dirt. At this point, we undoubtedly have to create a plan using consciousness, thoughts, rationality and planning skills. At this stage, criticism is not as necessary as motivation. That’s why you should start paying compliments to yourself for doing what you do at the moment — a decision to become a better version of yourself.
  4. Have strength and desire. Again, criticism is useless here, but praising yourself is very important. Cut the elephant into small steaks and praise each eaten slice. For example, let’s have a look at the goal to run a marathon (42.2 km). Praise yourself for the training plan, for each jog and even for a minimally visible result, and so on. “Eating up” the challenge of a 42.2 km marathon at once without a choking is something impossible, that’s why you need to help your psyche to “finish a meal”.
  5. It’s time to keep going and stay on the path. And again, remember to praise yourself. When dealing with a problem, your brain might get overwhelmed. Get crafty and break down a big problem into smaller ones. Praise your brain, I mean, yourself for any small advance. Your brain will believe that it can be nice to go further and be closer to the goal. Biologically thinking, it gets more enjoyable hormones, doesn’t it? And it will help to improve yourself and to accomplish the new goals. So, with our brain, we have a deal, don’t we?

Say the following sentences like a mantra over and over again: If I stop criticizing myself, it does not mean that I will stop improving myself. If I start praising myself, then I will improve myself! Praising yourself is healthy.

By the way, praising people is a good thing too! I’m proud of you for reading this text!
